Further complicating the insidious nature of our current system is its Kafkaesque ability to persuade the people, via politicians with ill conceived or outright corrupt motivations that the system is working as it should. Politicians use buzz words and sensationalism while consistently pontificating action based on unproven statistics which are outright lies. No one, not even the media seems to have the time or interest to really investigate what is happening, yet, according to Mortimer Zuckerman (chief editor of US News and World Report - Following bullets are quotes from October 5, 2007 "Family Unfriendly Policies"):
These facts are just the tip of the iceberg. The answer to some of Mortimer's questions, and the disturbing trends he notes, is simple: we do not recognize parents equally in our society and, in fact, treat them so far from equally in our family courts as to make great incentives for the manifestation of the facts Mortimer points out, or great incentives for the trends to continue like unstoppable monoliths. Some States Are Becoming Aware In the Video clips below (click on Parts) witness Ohio State Supreme Court argue specifics regarding shared parenting. The state is clearly starting to debate the technicalities of shared parenting rather than whether it is an option and seemingly accepts the premise that it is clearly in the child's best interest when two fit and loving parents are involved. Several parts - all totaled approximately 45 minutes.
